Michael, Louise and Beth King, and the team at Kings Funerals and Louise King Funerals by Women are dedicated to providing quality personal and professional funeral care to families throughout the region of Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surf Coast, Golden Plains and beyond.
Our facilities and team enable us to provide creative, flexible and highly personalised funeral services which are greatly appreciated by the families we serve.
The funeral service can be the single event to collectively pay tribute in many special ways. We place great importance on this time when friends and family reflect on a life.
Louise King Funerals by Women, the only all women's funeral service division in the region, has provided a special quality of funeral care for over 20 years.
In December 2015 bellarine memories became part of the Kings Funerals group as they entered their second decade of providing local, personalised service on the Bellarine.
60 years There for Geelong
2015 marks the 60th anniversary of Kings Funerals. For six decades and through three generations, Kings Funerals has supported the people of Geelong through their toughest times, providing compassion, high-quality service and a commitment to remembering and honoring the lives of loved ones.
The Kings Funerals business was originally established in Geelong in May 1955, by returned RAAF serviceman Max King, who had already spent several years utilising his skills in French polishing to produce beautiful coffins. From these humble beginnings, Kings Funerals has grown to become Geelong’s largest family-owned and operated funeral business.
Max’s son Michael joined the business in 1983, after training as a funeral director in London, and spent 10 years building the Kings Funerals business with his father before Max’s death in 1994. Today, Michael remains the Managing Director and his daughter Beth is the company’s General Manager. Beth and her mother Louise, from Louise King Funerals by Women established in 1995, play an important role in the direction of the business.
Louise King is highly regarded in the funeral industry and is qualified in nursing and bereavement and mortuary science. Louise and her dedicated team provide outstanding service as the only all-women funeral service in Geelong.
The Kings Funerals business is a thought leader in the funeral sector, both nationally and internationally. After being the first Australian funeral business on the internet in 1994, Kings continued to innovate through this new technology. Today, Kings Funerals’ e-Tributes sets the global standard for remembrance technology, allowing people to share memories from anywhere on earth.
The family’s entrepreneurial approach has not only been a key driver in the Kings’ business success, but also in the contribution it has made in the evolution of Geelong from large country town to regional centre and modern smart city.
As a highly educated and experienced businessmen, Michael’s participation in a range of social and regional affairs bodies has demonstrated his commitment to the community.
Beth is clearly following in her parent’s footsteps as an alumnus of the Leaders for Geelong program (established by her father with the Committee for Geelong), the 2012 AFDA (Australian Funeral Directors Association) scholarship winner, studying her MBA at Deakin University and involved in numerous local initiatives including her role as inaugural President of Open House Geelong.
To recognise this important milestone and formalise the family’s philanthropic activity, the King family has established the There For Geelong Foundation to contribute to and celebrate the things that are important to Geelong.
The King family is grateful that for sixty years and through three generations, Geelong families have trusted the Kings Funerals team to provide care in the toughest of times.
We hope that the support we’ve continued to provide has served to help celebrate the memories of the lives held dear.
For the pasty sixty years and for all the future years we’ll be fortunate to serve this great community, we say ‘Thank you’.
